Look at what I made today! Cute as a...pin cushion! Pin cushion as art...that's a stretch, but it sure is pretty! Best part, I'm gonna show you how to make one yourself.
ONE- Gather:
A picture frame--I used a small ornament-paint-it-yourself frame from the craft store (that happened to be at the bottom of a drawer in my 'studio'...I think I bought it like 3 years ago for a dollar...I knew it would be perfect for...something.)
A piece of fabric--Grab whatever you have on hand, something you like to look at; it just needs to be big enough to 'poof' and get caught under the backing of the frame.
A bit of poofy stuff--I used some scraps of polar fleece I had laying around. You can be fancy and use stuffing or poly-fill stuff if you want.
A stash of pins--Mine were haphazardly placed inside a tin, go find yours!
TWO- open your frame and place it rightside down.
THREE- lay your fabric bit over the frame, rightside down.
FOUR- put your poofy stuff on top of the fabric.
FIVE- gently press the poofy stuff and your fabric through the frame opening, being sure to leave enough of the fabric on the back to get caught in the frameback. This is the only tricky step, you want the front to be smooth and taught, and you want to keep an eye on the back end of the fabric.
SIX- place the backing on your frame, close hinges and trim your fabric bits. (I forgot to take a picture of this, but it will make the back neat, flat and not so messy.)
FINISHED- add your pins, and you are on your way!
Making one yourself? Send me a picture, I'd love to see what you come up with!
What did you make today?
