I finished and submitted this today in my mixed media group. This is B-'s book and her theme I had to work with was Celtic.
I was inspired by my art history class and a Norwegiean church we studied.
This was an old board book and the right side page was a puzzle. Most of the pieces are glued in, but I left a few empty for depth.
The book binding split while I was working with it, so I glued it together as best I could and decided to fill the space with 'old artifacts'.
The weird eternity thing with heads is supposed to be a zoomorphic interweaved piece. The small heads are snakes and the large heads are gryphons.
On the left is a scottish thistle (LOVE). I love thistles! [on a side note, the garden I used to work for had a HUGE thistle in it, loved that...almost as tall as I am. They also used the thistle as part of their logo.]
The words around the thistle read:
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
