Today I was working on the piece from yesterday, and don't really feel like putting virtually the same pictures up again sooo... I was walking into the kitchen and noticed something out of the corner of my eye.
On the top of a bookshelf lives a vase and an easel with a little picture my mom drew. (either in, or right after high school) It wasn't there. I'm not sure how, but it had fallen off it's little easel and ended up behind the bookshelf on the floor.
I dusted it off and began to put it back in place, but because it was in my hands I was able to see parts of it I hadn't remembered. A couple of finger prints, two holes from tacks and especially the way it is lovingly attached to a throw away piece of cardboard. I'm not sure if my mom did that or if my grandmother did, but it's cute. Looking at it again makes me want to protect it a little better, I'm going to have to frame it soon.
I love the way she used simple cross hatching and negative space in the leaves of the tree. I love that there is a teeeeny tiiiiny electric pole in the background on the left, like maybe there is a road over there leading somewhere wonderful.
Enjoy!
