I miss her dearly. 

She sent me a picture of a self portrait she did.

Hodge-Podge Art Every Day 143-145

day 143--part of a larger project, from a family portrait shoot for Christmas.

Day 144--Pretty candle at the house in honor of Christian, lit this two nights in a row.

Day 145-- This is a picture I took at the State fair a few months ago, but I love the colors and textures so...  Plus that's my motto.  I want to experience every good thing.

I went to the founding meeting today of a new mixed media group in town.  There weere seven great artists there, and I am honored to have been invited.  I'm looking forward to working and learning from them all!  Our first thing is an Altered Book round robin!  So excited!  You can look here for lots of info on Altered Books.  The theme I have chosen is...dun dun duh dah!  Self portrait.  How did you guess?  I am for sure going to incorporate that quote into my book.

I will be sure and keep you posted of my progress!  Some of the themes I will be working on (in other people's books) are Celtic, Sewing, Steampunk among others!  Excited!

My friend Terry from The Raven's Whim, taught me this technique today, and along the way I found my voice in all those scraps.  Note:  this piece is unfinshed.  UNFINSHED!  YAY, I get to do more to it!

The creamy flowerish bits on top there, that is cheese cloth...looks like wet t.p. (and that might work well too) fun to 'draw' with.

Do you see all those little bits?  Atlas scraps, ledger paper, paper napkins, book pages...

Seriously, that is cheesecloth.

This is the entire piece...so far.  It is about 24LX18W.

Okay, so for the past few years we have taken Xav, one of the dogs, to go trick or treating with some of our favorite people, and thier parents.  M-and L- always have great costumes and Xav likes to dress up with them.  Last year the kids were Daphne and Shaggy, so Xav was...Scooby.  This year L- was Buzz Lightyear, so Xav was Slinky-Dog!

Great idea, good attempt, decent execution, poor participation from the pup.  But, enjoy anyway!

A Friend, Journal and Collage Art Every Day 73 &74

Hi there!  Okay, for the most part my mid-terms are over, I have one left but it is 2 weeks from now, so I can relax a bit.

I’ve been working on the collage from the other day, and started another…pictures later I promise. 

Today I want to tell you about an amazing local artist and a lovely friend of mine.  Terry, you can find her at Raven’s Whim.  He work is complex, beautiful and fun too.  She is an experimenter, teacher and an inspiration. 

Yesterday, she and I met at a local coffee shop to catch up, we laughed, we talked serious business, and we laughed.  Terry came into my life about six years ago.  I was a waitress at the best place in town for vegetarian fare (and everything fare too) and she and her husband were some of my favorite customers.  We would talk about life, art, making things, and making our lives into something.  Terry is wise beyond her years.  After changing jobs, moving away from downtown, and general life chock-full-o-changes we lost touch. 

Lo and behold, I found her on facebox.  Yup, right there.  Damn that facebox. 

Soooo, my art for yesterday Day 73, is actually Terry’s art.  She brought me a lovely journal covered in her famous hand-made art paper.  But this isn’t just any handmade art paper, it is personalized for…ART EVERY DAY!  Yay!! It may be hard to tell from the pictures, but the words written all over the journal are “Art Every Day”  Love that!

Annnnnnd, That's not all.  MY OWN art for today...a feel good digital collage.  Enjoy!
