Completed watercolor, crayon and ink landscape.
Soooo, today I want to give a shout out to someone who doesn’t know how integral he was to getting my Art Every Day project started.
I'm talking about Noah Scalin, you might know him as that skull guy, from the skull-a-day blog and author of SKULLS, and recently the brain slice skull for the Mutter Museum. Well, he is more than just skulls, he is a talented artist, yes, but he is also a dynamic, inspiring force in the art community and design activist.
I was fortunate enough to meet Noah at school last year when he put on a workshop for graphic design students and anyone else who was interested. He was funny, energetic, and patient with a room full of students and a professor that told maybe one too many stories.
Before the workshop, two professors and I had lunch with Noah. We discussed the art program at school, changes that were being implemented, and how we could foster a responsible, active, and creative community in the school. We discussed ideas, creativity, imagination, and sheer work. Noah mentioned he was working on a book that addressed daily creativity, 365: A Daily Creativity Journal: Make Something Every Day and Change Your Life!
Now I haven't read or worked along with the book yet, but only because its not available yet. But the conversation and ideas surrounding it inspired me in a way I hadn't experienced up until then.
So, Noah, thanks for inspiring me to Make Art Every Day and change MY life!
What did you make today?
