The other day I made that henna inspired peacock design on a friend's cup, remember? Yesterday while I was at tar-get I noticed a peacock hairpiece. I thought to myself...I love peacock feathers...I have a few peacock feathers at home...I could make something like that! Large elastic band + peacock feathers + hot glue and a few stiches = New Feather Head Wear! Totally feeding my fascinator obsession right now!
So, you will have to bear with me for a bit while I use my creative energy to re-vamp this living room! Today I made a pillow cover and started priming a few items that are going to be helping me update the wall art we have going on.
ta da!!! and no zipper, this is an envelope style cover, waaaay easier and looks good too.
Yesterday I had little time but managed to eek out an envelope for my envelope book...the ongoing go-to project on my table.
Today I made a pillow. I know AMAZING right? well, its no sewing feat of mastery, but it is cute and did involve a z-i-p-p-e-r!
I am in the begining stages of redecorating our living/family room. The walls are robins egg blue and a light latte color. That's not changing. One of our walls is two stories high and the other three are vaulted; you would have to threaten life and limb to make me want to paint that again. (I admit, I hired someone last time, but I'm not interested in that right now either)
We aren't changing our couch and chairs either...yet. They are in good condition, comfortable and functional (read that as my husband won't give up his recliner yet, I hate them, but at least they are a neutral color and comfy.) So really I am changing our curtains, making some new pillows, recovering our end tables and painting a side table some shocking color.
The last time I updated this room I stuck to a v.e.r.y. neutral palette. Cream, White, Latte, the robins egg and some chocolate. I'm throwing all caution to the wind and working around the paint and furniture colors re-energizing this room.
So, here I am...playing catch up. The past week has been crazy busy, I managed to work on a few things, but put off posting in exchange for a few extra minutes of sleep. Things are starting to feel back to normal...what's that??
210 Another page for my Upcycled Journal
211 My first attempt at a linoleum block carving, loved it and want to do more!
212 A little free motion self-portrait
213 Wouldn't you love to get a letter in a fabric envelope like this? I know I would...still working out the particulars on the best way to go about this...
214, 215, & 216 A mixed media collage
217 The beginings of a new collage, haven't gotten very far yet, but looking forward to seeing where this one goes!
Today was such a great day! Although I had planned to make something entirely different than what I’m about to tell you about; it turned out to be a happy accident, if you will. I’ve been working on a plan to make something…I’ll share it with you soon…and I thought I finally had all of the supplies. In all actuality I purchased the wrong kind of fusible web. Do. Over. Much.
This is an upcycled fabric bead necklace! I am always trying to find ways to use those scraps, you know, the ones that seem to small for anything, but not small enough to be put in the background of one of my collages without cutting it first. Today I sewed a bunch of them together, that, along with a felted sweater sitting in a sewing drawer and about an hour and a half…and I have a new necklace! LOVE!
Todays adventure includes this piece. Although it is not done yet, I am liking the direction so far.
Mixed media: paint, recycled scraps, pencil, stamped images and more. "the truth will set you free"
I was going for a kind of limited color scheme, and NOT allowing myself to use any white.(not the greatest picture) We will see how that goes tomorrow too. Tonight my head is just too darn full to think about this piece any more.
